It’s the perfect time for a weekend getaway! We are fortunate in that there are many great cities with loads of family friendly attractions within a few short hours!

Asheville

Visit America’s largest family home, the Biltmore Estate. Located on 8,000 acres, this exquisite home, and the gorgeous rose gardens surrounding it, is sure to delight the whole family. Explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by train, trail, or tube. Make sure to take a ride down Sliding Rock, a 60-foot natural waterslide. There are loads of other water adventures around Asheville including rappelling down a waterfall, standup paddle boarding and yoga, fishing, tubing, and more! You can also view Asheville from the trees with several zip line tours available. Check out Explore Asheville for a full list!

Chattanooga

The Scenic City certainly has its fair share of attractions to keep you entertained. Between the TN River, the surrounding mountains, and the booming downtown in the middle, there is something for everyone. Rock City, Ruby Falls, the Tennessee Aquarium, and the Incline Railway are some of the traditional Chattanooga attractions and will not disappoint. Downtown is right on the water and is home to delicious restaurants and coffeehouses. Take a stroll across the Walnut Street Bridge to Chattanooga’s Northshore where you can ride the carousel at Coolidge Park and grab some dinner and homemade ice cream. Rent a couple of paddle boards and get out on the water of the Tennessee River. Are you a hiker or rock climber? Chattanooga’s got you covered. Being surrounded by mountains, there are endless options for hiking to amazing scenery and waterfalls, rock climbing, and repelling.

Nashville

When you think of the Music City, you probably think of country music. The Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame, touring Music Row, Ryman Auditorium, and concerts galore are just a few of the attractions surrounding Nashville’s claim to fame. If the Honky Tonk isn’t your thing, visit The Parthenon, the world’s only full-scale replica of the ancient Parthenon in Athens, Greece. Or, pay your respects to three past Presidents that called Tennessee home. Visit Andrew Jackson’s home or see where James K. Polk is buried (at the state capital!). Opryland, the Belle Meade Plantation, Opry Mills mall, and countless bars & restaurants round out the list and are sure to keep you entertained.

So, now that you have a game plan of what to do, grab your kids, pack a bag, and hit the road!
