Why? Well, there are several reasons.
The end of the month and year tend to mean better deals because dealers are trying to meet their quotas. Sales managers will be compensated if they meet their monthly/yearly sales expectations; so, they are more likely to be a little more flexible on price and add-ons in order to make the sale.
In addition to meeting sales quotas, the end of a calendar year means many of the current models are about to become last year’s model. Out with the old and in with the new. Dealers not only want to make room on their lots for the latest and greatest, but they also want to free up their cash so they can purchase more of the incoming models.
Another reason why the end of the year is the best time to purchase a car is because, in general, not many people are buying. The cold weather combined with money being spent on gifts and other holiday expenses tend to mean fewer buyers scouring car lots.
